In August we flew into Spokane and drove up through Idaho and into Canada where we spent a week driving through the national parks and visiting one major city. We hiked around lakes and rivers, saw wildlife and spent hours and hours seeing lots of beautiful country through our car windows.
Afraid initially, but built up the courage to show some love to the bear.
We took a special bus on to the ice field (glacier).
Yum! Fresh water! Even Collin couldn't resist eating the ice.
Along our drive we enjoyed several waterfalls.
Bears were spotted along the road.
We rented a row boat for an hour and got some exercise.
We spotted this little island while on the lake and went for a little hike.
Next we checked out the beach and let Collin feel the sand in his toes.
Back behind our cabin along the river.
Every now and then we would run into wildlife on the road.
These mountain goats were very friendly
We ended the trip spending two days in Calgary. We visited their version of the space needle, a really great dinosaur museum and the zoo which we also really enjoyed.
It's a long way down!
We got lucky, my aunt Cheryl had a 30 hr layover in Calgary and was able to spend the day with us at the museum. Collin had a great time seeing her on our vacation.
The zoo had some fun rides for Collin and a great new penguin exhibit.
