New Orleans, the Pre-Cruise Vacation

It all happened so fast, Mark said he saw some great deals on cruises and somehow convinced me to go on yet another vacation. Yes, I know, it's torture being dragged into these things. When deciding where to go we considered that there was a ship that ports out of New Orleans which we have never been to before and have wanted to see, so we spent a few days in the city before boarding the ship.
The first thing we did was a Louisiana swamp tour. Wanted to do the fun looking air boats that you see on t.v. but the pregnancy limited our options so we took this family safe boat and saw some alligators as we hoped.

The Baton Rouge Temple, our 24th!

Spent the second day at the WWII museum which was a fantastic educational experience.
That night we went to see a show at The Stage Door Canteen. At this show they reenacted the shows that were put on for the active duty when they were on leave around the world. Of course my favorite singer/dancer was the Navy serviceman (proud of my roots)!

The last day we checked out Mardi Gras World where we learned more about the holiday and how it works. We also got to see the warehouse where over 80% of the floats are created.

Catching our eyes when driving past it on the freeway and being from the West we had to investigate this cemetery. Water levels being high force the graves to be above ground. Read about it in school but never saw one. Felt a little cold with no grass.

Bourbon Street. Yes, these people on the balcony were looking for crazy acts below to win people the right to earn those silly little beads. Ugh!
