She Will Be Missed

At 3:50 this morning Mark awoke to discover that our precious little Shelby had taken her last breath. For the past several months she had been fighting a tough battle with Cushings disease, arthritis and old age. Just weeks ago I took her for a 'quality of life' visit at the vet and he prescribed several new medications. After two weeks we noticed considerable improvement and renewed the prescriptions for another 30 days. That was just earlier this week.

These were the last pictures taken of Shelby earlier this month. Although we are very sad to see our little girl go, we are blessed that she went in her sleep and that we were not forced with the decision to have to put her down. We have thoroughly enjoyed having her in our home and it will take a while to get used to life around the house without her.

Here are some memories we have of Shelby.....

This was always so cute. In her old age I taught Shelby to step up onto the bottom stair and wait for me to come by and swoop her up to carry her all the way up. It was a partnership :) , she did her part and I did mine.

She loved to make us laugh. Shelby and Pearl were like a team. Pearl would pull it out of the trash or off the counter and then they would both go at it. It was hilarious when we came home and found this!

She hated bath time!

She loved to play tug on the rope (before her health was bad)

And she loved to cuddle up under the Christmas tree.

Thank you to all our family and friends who showed love to Shelby.
